Since Graduating with ‘Interdisciplinary Design’ BA (hons) from The University of the West of England Tansy has undertaken a fellowship at UWE and worked as a free lance interior and set designer. She has recently launched her own Jewellery Collection, HOLLY+HAAK alongside her role of home accessories product designer & buyer at Holly's House interior studio. She continues to develop her practice from her London studio and has exhibited in notable exhibitions including The National Open and Candid Berlin as well as completing and installing a large scale Crystal Study commission for We are Conran and Hoxton Art Gallery.
As an Interdisciplinary practitioner she is driven by her interest in exploring the often complex relationship between process and materials, ultimately striving to create visually seductive and complex pieces which invite and encourage the viewer to question what they are looking at. Her intricate Crystal Studies and large scale Poured Aluminium Sculptures are reminiscent of ariel imagery and she often uses photography as a vehicle to transport the intricate details into large scale images.
As an extension of these organic and unpredictable processes, Tansy has developed her practice in a new series of geometric threaded works entitled 'Diamonds of my eye'. The accurate lines and symmetrical forms of these new pieces stand in stark contrast to her previous workings and reflect the juxtaposition between natures idea of beauty and that of man. Using Diamond Plots, produced as a map to illustrate how to facet a diamond to optimise its sparkle, her threaded Copper and Sulphate pieces both mirror and contrast that of her original Crystal Studies.
Light is an integral part of all of Tansy's works, Whether it is a warm artificial light of bright natural light it affects the look and feel of them through out the days and seasons. Perhaps the magic behind the work is that the surface appears to be constantly changing, illuminating once unnoticed areas and ultimately holding the viewers attention.
